Meet Dr. Michael Kotlicky

Dr. Michael Kotlicky, Director of the Visual Learning Centers of America, Inc., is a developmental optometrist providing specialized services for children and adults with binocular vision problems.  For more than 47 years, Dr. Kotlicky has had a general practice of optometry, with specialties in the areas of vision therapy, pediatric vision, sports vision, and developmental and behavioral vision. He provides visual rehabilitation for patients with brain injuries and stroke. Through specialized testing, and individualized vision therapy treatment plans, patients are able to improve visual function, as well as school, sports, and job performance.

Formerly an Assistant Professor of Optometry (specializing in vision therapy, contact lens, low vision and pediatric diagnostic services) at the Illinois College of Optometry, he also served as Director of the Clinical Procedures Laboratory and the Strabismus/Amblyopia Clinic, and took graduate level courses in ‘Teaching Children With Learning Disabilities’. In 1973, Dr. Kotlicky completed his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science there and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1975 as well as his Certificate in Vision Therapy.

Dr. Kotlicky was Director of the Vision Care Program at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD, and has served for many years on the Howard County School Health Advisory Board. Dr. Kotlicky is a past president of the Greater Baltimore Optometric Society and a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Optometric Extension Program, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Kotlicky was also a consultant for the Forensic Medical Advisory Services Corporation in Rockville, Maryland.

Dr. Kotlicky is dedicated to education, excellence and results in providing patient care. He is a well respected lecturer to local groups, and is involved in the public, private and homeschool communities. He is recognized for his many publications, and has developed sports vision programs for local athletes, and truly enjoys helping his patients overcome the visual roadblocks to their success.
